THE BACK STORY

In 2008, Brooke Oberwetter was celebrating the birthday of Thomas Jefferson by dancing, using headphones and an MP3 player, at the Memorial. Considered a form of protest by the government, she was summarily arrested and released from prison. (http://www.theagitator.com/2008/04/21/jefferson-memorial-update/)

RECENT EVENTS INSPIRING THE PROTESTS NEXT SATURDAY

Recently, her case went to court and the ban on dancing was upheld legally; protestors went to go show their love of self-expression and here was the result: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jUU3yCy3uI&feature=youtu.be

Come dance with us EVERYWHERE in the United States!! This dance off is in solidarity of those who will be risking arrest for dancing again at the Jefferson Memorial this coming Saturday, June 4th.
